Soraya has served on The Academy Board since 2020. She is an ophthalmologist at East Bay Retina Consultants specializing in the management of surgical and medical diseases of the retina.
She remains active in resident teaching and research as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF Department of Ophthalmology, where she completed her ophthalmology residency and vitreo-retinal fellowship. She also received a Masters in Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiological and Biostatistical Methods bringing to bear expertise in this arena to The Academy during the ongoing pandemic. She has experience in educational boards having served on the Board of Trustees of The Ohio State University, where she completed her undergraduate and medical degrees.
